They have been in the past, why should it be any different now if the draft is re-instituted? You didn't see a lot of rich Republicans in VietNam, but you did see a large number of minorities - most of whom were Democrats when they came back. Why look at Bush. He served so admirably during the VietNam War. He was so heroic! Let's face it, only a true wealthy Republican could get into the Air National Guard and hide like he did - thanks to Daddy pulling some strings to get him in even though the quotas were full.

The Republican party has always been and always will be the party of the rich and wealthy and those people just don't have to worry about getting drafted.

If they reinstate the draft, I absolutely do - can I have my son back that volunteered & is an officer & Ranger? He loves the military so you may have to physically bring him back to his wife & daughters. Did I mention he is a Ranger & has been trained to break your arm, leg & neck? LOL Really he has been trained to break vaious body parts & neck but you would have to force him from his duty. He is my only son, so I worry - at 50 I do not need the grey hair.

For the record my family has had 37 military personnel since VietNam. We have never tried to get out of our duty to the country. 34 volunteered - only 3 were drafted - black sheep in every family. We are proud Republicans that serve our country.

I didn't realize there is a draft. An I just got done watching the news.
But if there was a draft.... no they shouldn't.
Let's face it though, there have been rich people of all parties (and of no political party) who have gotton a break in life because of who they know. Just a fact of life. It's always been like that and always will be. Sorry.

If their was a draft . . . rich Republicans or Democrats would not be exempt. Neither would career college students.
I don't think all Republicans or all Democrats are mean...just certain people of each party.
I personally don't want people to serve who don't want to be there. They make lousy soldiers.

Although at the present there is no draft...But if there was...Yes...If the Rich Democrats, Rich Liberals, and the Rich Socialist are, why wouldn't a rich Republican be? ...Although I doubt the rich Republicans would whine as much as the other groups do if they were drafted...

Considering that the vast majority of rich Republicans are probably over the age of 30, I think it's an irrelevant question.

Of course. Let's just send the poor off to die for a cause they don't believe in. And while we're at it, let's increase military spending and curb civil liberties!

A fine idea!

...not.

If there's a draft just close the dam window.

Why not rich Dems do it.

Most people would fight for their country and what they believe in,,, wouldn't you fight to keep your family safe??

Aren't they always? I think that is a law somewhere. . .

But I don't think they should. They should be the first to go - they can afford the best body armor.
