You would say that you loved me
And I’d say it in return
We would talk on the phone for hours
And I loved every minute of it
I would sneak out just to see you
And it was worth all the punishment

You talked about our future marriage
And even the family we’d have
We both felt so comfortable together
But there was chemistry as well
I’d spend time with you
And all my problems would just vanish

You acted like it would never end
Not in a million years
We’d argue every now and then
But you’d just stop and I’d smile
I thought I was the luckiest girl ever
But I guess that was just temporary

You called to say you didn’t love me
And I lost it completely
We were supposed to be together forever
Or at least that’s what you always said
I still loved you just as much
Even though you didn’t feel the same

You actually were the one
And I still can’t get over that
We had potential to do so much
And we had experiences I’ll never forget
I can’t move on, it’s impossible

mmmm...poetry is very subjective...

It's a matter or understanding what the poet is trying to convey...I understood you, so it is good in my "subjective" opinion.

It sounds like you really got hurt. Remember you are obviously not over them yet so give it time. Your REAL soul mate is still out there. Someone that loves you the way you love them wouldn't do that to you. I don't think you should give the poem to your EX! It gives them the upper hand, all the power to make you feel how they want. Some people enjoy making you miserable and hung up on them. You should move on to something better and show him what a great thing he missed out on.

It's not really a poem but a story. No, don't give it to him, he obviously could care less, he did say he doesn't love you right? I hope that you understand you will get over this, you really need to get pissed off at this jerk and yourself. Him because he led you on (and most likely got what he wanted...first lesson for you to learn). And then yourself for not protecting yourself and trusting too much (second lesson learned). Have respect for you and others will respect you. See this idiot for what he really is, not someone you were meant to be together forever. It is possible to move on, do it and let anyone who knows him see you doing great. Having a good life is the best revenge! : )

Personally it sounds more like an "I want you back letter" than a poem. As to giving it to him that depends on if he has moved on or if there is a possibility you and him still have a chance of getting back together.

Wow, I thought it was great. You certainly put in words how you felt. I have been there before when I was your age. It does get better. You will do better than him. I know you dont believe it now, I didnt either at that age but you will. You are great. I loved your poem.

Its ok, not great but nothing to be ashamed of. I wouldn't share it with him. Sounds like he doesn't care if he hurt you and by continuing to poor yourself into this relationship is only going to keep open his ability to hurt you. Put it into a folder of mementos and see if you can use it somehow later in life. Keep writing though, practice will only improve your abilities. Thanks for sharing with us.

If you need others' commendations on your art, you're not a poet.
