I've always been a strong advocate of counting eggs before they hatch, and here's why:
There are just too many egg-predators these days, and they all seem bent on the destruction of your poor unborn chicks!
What can I say? I can't help but love the chicks. I hate that I do, but I do, so I always count my eggs to make sure I have the same number when I start as I do when they hatch.
Beware of weasles, foxes, and dinosaurs.

You can count the eggs, but don't count your chickens before they hatch.

Damn I wish I'd have thought of that.
I don't know. My hatch rate has been dismal and it could be because I always insist on buying 12 at a time. Why don't you try not counting them and see what happens?

they wont hatch unless they have been fertilized by a rooster. If so, then yes, count them now so you will know how much chicken feed you will need to have on hand

oh..never count your eggs before they hatch. cause some could never hatch.

I would count them right now. If they don't hatch, cook them and have a hearty breakfast. Either way, you win.

It won't hurt to count the eggs. If you have a dozen eggs, you have a dozen eggs....but that doesn't mean you'll have a dozen chickens.
