Ok, I don't have anything fancy. But this is what we do......first any standing water puddles, I spray with cooking oil. A lite mist so that it covers the top. It will smother them until yard can dry.

Second for patio areas, put Lemon Joy on white foam plate and set in a few hidden areas. For some reason they will stay away.
But it must be Lemon Joy.

And for humans, I use peppermint lotion. Now the only lotion without all the extra goo in it is the foot lotion. But just rub some
of that on arms legs ect.. Now my husband was skeptical of that
one, but when he got bit and I didn't. He is now using it, needless to say.

Mosquito's are attracted to sweat for some reason.

First reduce the water in your yard. Mosquitos breed and lay eggs in pools of water. Second, there is a spray you can spray your yard with to kill the mosquito eggs in the water puddles that are there.

There is an OFF lamp that heats up a pad to release mosquito repellent in a bigger area and stronger than citronella. If you are outside a lot you might want to consider an outside tent to entertain in and put a lamp or two inside just in case.

Citronella is a wonderful and fragrant plant. You can plant it outside, or grow it in a pot and bring it outside when you need a mosquito repellant. This would make a natural version of Off!

mosquitos are drawn to moist dark areas. they need standing water to lay their eggs. make sure you don't have any standing water such as pots, tires, birdbaths ,ponds. if you have circulating ponds, you can treat the water or stock it with fish that will eat the larve. also buy citronella plants for outdoor sitting areas.
