The fact that basic motivations are arbitrary doesn't invalidate them-- the emotion telling you that arbitrary things are "meaningless" is a natural part of the human reasoning instinct, but it only should be applied to means to ends. "Meaningless" is a term used to describe a concept's inability to advance a specific, given goal, or a concept's lack of definition, neither of which has an application to a person's most basic motivations (self preservation, love, sometimes ideologies- although it's rarely as clear-cut as that).

To live a meaningless life, is to live with out love. To live a life of meaningless circles was better off not lived....so in other words, it is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all !

One can put meaning in one's life by helping others. For instance, Bill Gates has become the richest man in the world, but realizes the wealth cannot be spent and cannot bring him further happiness, so he is searching for ways to alleviate the sufferings of others thru his charitable foundation. Every person has the capability of helping others, even in small ways. Your reward will be to find a purpose for your life.
