You're right, all politicians, regardless of their affiliation, should just accept it as a scientific fact, and address it accordingly. But it's inconvenient for politicians who are being supported by businesses that don't want to be bothered with the expense of being responsible about the issue.

Global warming is a tool of the American left. Much like the endangered species act. Lefties use these two items for political gain.

They steal peoples property in the name of endangered species. To date just about every square inch of American soil is "habitat" for some sort of endangered species. If someone has a powerful government buddy that feels that you shouldn't own your land, guess what? They find and endangerd bug or fly on your property. Then you lose most of the rights guarenteed to you in the US constitution as a property owner. They enact regulations that keep you from farming, building, or anything else on your land. Before long you are bankrupt. The next thing you know, the government is buying your land for pennies on the dollar and all of a sudden they can't find the endangerd bug on your property any more and all regulations are lifted. There are many documented examples of this.

In the case of global warming they want to inact legislation that allows them more power over you. For example if they want to steal your car and make you buy a $50,000 "earth friendly car" from the company their donaer buddy owns or raise your gas taxes and redistribute to the public employees and their unions that fund their elections.

Don't be a useful idiot. Believe only about 10% from what comes out of a politicians mouth.

THANK GOD...........someone has finally stated the obvious.

there are soooooo many nut cases (to include the ex-vice pres) who now think that they are experts, because they read a few articles by some liberal moron who had no clue as to what the hell they were talking about. yes, a few years ago, there was a convention of over 220 scientist and most of them agreed that global warming was a problem......WHAT THEY DIDN'T TELL YOU WAS THAT NOT A SINGLE "SCIENTIST " THAT WAS THERE WAS QUALIFIED TO MAKE THAT STATEMENT. the planet has gone through several cycles of warming and cooling off, (just ask a freshman geology student who's taken Historical Geology 102). the last ice-age roughly ended 10,000 years ago, and started on the warming trend.........in geological terms, 10,000 years is nothing,....its a eye blink,.....yes were on a warming cycle, and guess what...the planet has been a hell-of-allot warmer than it is today..........

PS..........it was roughly calculated that without the presence of CO2 in the upper atmosphere the average surface temperature of the earth would be about 30° F, almost like mars...........we couldn't survive without CO2

I personally think that the reason that it has recently been all over the news and on every talk show out there is because it is finally being relized by everyone that it is a HUGE and growing problem. And now, there is a number of things that people can do and change in their daily lives that can help this pressing issue and scientists and environmentalists just want to get the message out there that people need to read into the things they can do, and actually do them, and in the long run, help to save the world.

Politics is meant to serve the people, so issues that affect the people will as a matter of course become political issues. Politicians make the laws, so of course, if the problem is to be fixed, one must go through them. You think a giant energy corporatio is going to regulate itself?

Furthermore, politicians are in the business of staying in power. WHat better way to do so than to demonstrate to voters that they're on top of the current hot-button issue?

It is science that defines the concept but economics that is the cause of the problem and will be the source of the solution. With multinational economics it quickly becomes political because you are "adjusting" lively hoods and need to leverage positions to reach a compromise.

Political decisions affect the environment. If the government does not change its policies when it comes to regulating businesses and protecting the environment global warming will get worse.

If someone can get a vote or two for it, then it becomes a political topic. Or should I say if someone stands to make a buck or two from it, then it becomes a political topic.

It is a matter of science and public safety. It is one of those things that needs to be fixed..and requires cooperation on a global level. We do need to ask experts in science to advise us on this and we need to follow their advice.

science did their job finding the problem. polititions need to get the company's to change their way of business to not make it any worse. ex.>>only so much oil in the world ....what to do if none left....do we wait till then or get another way to do business
