OF COURSE it's engineers.
Lawyer is very stressful. You have to deal with all kinds of things.
It's a tough job.

This depends on many factors:

1. The personal qualities of the individual (are they more geared towards a career in engineering, or law).
2. The nature of the individual companies.
3. One's perception of their job-related responsibilities.
4. The job-related pressures placed on them.

There's probably many more. Overall, I'd say that lawyers have more stress, due to the competitive nature of the legal profession.

Both are boring and stressful.

Lawyers have to plow through loads of cases, writing submission, thinking of cross examination questions etc to prepare for trial. If one becomes a corporate lawyer, you have to prepare 200 page documents (think about it...all the words describing 13.6.2(s) has to match that of 26.2.8(c) for over 200 pages). On top of that, you have time pressure from the clients. American lawyers also tend to use very convoluted language. If you miss something out, your clients could get sued for millions or even billions of dollars due to your fault.

Engineers on the other hand also have the same boring life. If you work on a site, enough said...think about it. If you design stuff, same sort of thing. One wrong calculation and the building falls due to a gust a wind.

If you like to mess with stuff engineering is pretty cool. Don't expect big bucks unless you transition to management. Stress is a constant throughout either path.

If you have a great memory, can read obscure verbose documents and like to debate details the law may be good for you. Make senior partner and you can have underlings do the heavy lifting for you. Entertaining on the yacht seems pretty stress free.

If you don't mind lying to yourself, definitely lawyers. Even the crappy ones can make 200+ an hour easy.
