Reasonable people on both sides should and usually do agree with that. In fact, it's people's passion for a particular issue that masks the respect for for the other side's patriotism. In short liberals and conservative both want what they believe is best for the country. No reasonable American wakes up every morning and asks, "How can I screw America today?" They just come to different conclusions as to what is best. And in the passion to achieve good for the country heated arguments happen. But those heated arguments are the indication that both sides are patriotic. God help us if there are no disagreements, because then we will have an oligarchy. It is the different opinions and the ability to have open discussion that makes America a great place to live.

I usually lean to the political left, but most of time I am a moderate. I think being and extreme left or extreme right bad for society. I am tired of people voting for their candidate just because he represents their party. I think people should review the issues. Since Bush invaded Iraq a lot of my friends who have democratic views began having far left views.

Agree. I am not going to even bother voting. At this point both parties are full of worthless people who are only interested in themselves (only a few may actually care about others).
