If the Prez wants to declare you an armed combatant, he can lock you up and deny you access to the courts, a lawyer, your family and deny you bail...

The Prez also thinks its okay to listen to your phone calls without a warrant, look at what library books you take out, read your bank statement--all without telling you or getting a warrant.

The Prez can hold you on foreign soil, torture you, deny your basic human rights under either the US Constitution or the Geneva Convention too.

Funny thing, I don't think there was any legislation that enables him to violate the basic guarantees of the Constitution here....funny that huh?

The legislation isn't taking the rights, it's the Presidential orders that are stripping away checks-and-balances.

The right to have my favored political candidates be shielded from being spied on by a Carl-Rove-NSA-plant by a court overseeing the surveillance.

My right to publish or purchase political advertisements around elections.

And just this week, Congress started trying to restrict my right to gamble with my own money on the internet.
