yes, but every team would have to finish with the exact same 81-81 record. if one team finished 82-80, another team would have to finish 80-82.

i guess they would pick the division winner based on head to head records.

Yes, in theory, it's possible. What normally happens if two teams end up with same record when contending for a playoff spot is that they have a one game play-in for the playoffs. I would imagine in this case that they would use the teams' records against the other teams in the division to determine who the winner is. The improbability of this happening is so high, though, that I think we'll both get hit by lightning and win the lottery twice before we see this.

By the way, as a Cardinals fan love the inclusion of the Cubs as one of the 3 worst teams in baseball on that last post :-)

no because with the odd number of teams in each league, some teams play more interleague games than others. That throws off the ability for every team to be .500

It is probably technically possible, though unlikely in the extreme. If it actually happened they would have to play best of 3 or 5 series in each division and then some sort of extra series for the wildcard. They'd work it out.

Yes, all 30 teams would finish at 81-81 and they would go to tie-breakers, which could go down to like the 13th or 14th tie breaker, beanbrawls won.

it's not possible when you have teams like the royals, cubs, and pirates in the league.

but if everyone finished with a .500 record, the playoffs would be

ALDS- a's vs. white sox & tigers vs. red sox
NLDS- mets vs. cincinnati& st. louis vs. philli

ALCS- tigers vs. white sox
NLCS- mets vs. st. louis

World Series- white sox vs. mets, white sox in 7

Yes, it could. Just imagine every team winning all of their home games.
