This happened to me too. I sent a letter to the address on the collection letter. I asked them to stop calling me and and included copies of my payments. I guess they finally realized that I really was making payments b/c the calls stopped.

Call and ask for the arrangments in writing or offer automatic withdrawls for the payments. DO NOT CEASE COMMUNICATIONS with the agency. This is drawing the line in the sand, and they can contact you one more time to tell you they are taking it to court. In court mention you had arrangments, but typically the court finds you owe the money.
If they are indeed threatening you, contact a consumer attorney knowledgable with the FDCPA and sue them. I think you will find the collector that made arrangements didnt notate the account properly - easy fix just call. Good luck and don't give up on the agency - they wont give up on you :)

DO NOT MAKE ANY PAYMENTS UNTIL the terms you agreed to are in writting. Have them fax it and then call them back and make the payments if you wish. If it is not in writting it doesn't exist. Also they will continue to harrass you until you have paid as agreed. If they continue to harrass you, let them know that you will lodge a complaint with the FTC.
If you are sick of your rights getting abused check out my "Protecting Your Family" Blog on my 360 page.
Good luck

could be the "threatening callers" are sitting beside the collector you made a deal with and they don't know you made a deal, not in the computer

make sure they are legit....then call their butts. You made arrangements over the phone and I am sure they taped it.
