Because it is considered rude to cut your pasta. The spoon is to help you twist the pasta on your fork.

Well, it is the way they manuver the spoon to twist the pasta onto the fork instead of having a hard time just using just the fork. It's much easier seen than said.

Italian's don't eat pasta with spoons and forks just forks its like saying meat balls and spaghetti came over here from Italy ts a lie meat balls in the old country were served as a side dish not on the pasta well at least not them big jumble balls people assume all Italian's eat with their spaghetti their myths Americans made up. that's like assuming all Jews like their pickles in garlic and spices which is of polish/Russian origin

It is easier to put the pasta on the fork that way. Try it and you will see. It's not just Italians who do this.

what else are you going to use when eating spaghetti or pasta ,with your hands or even chopstick and you cannot used knife on that either .of course only fork and spoon is used when eating pasta i know i love spaghetti and i am not Italian
