Personally, I have never feared the future more than I do now. During Clinton's administration, I felt optimistic and looked forward to the future. I felt like I could bring a family into this world and everything would be great for them. But now I am so pessimistic because the Bush admin and Congress have screwed us Americans over SO much I do not think it is reparable.

What do you think?

I agree, but I think it is repairable. I think things will start to get better with these elections in 2006, and then much better in 2008 when King George is out even if he is replaced by another Republican.

In many ways I agree with what your saying. The 90's were a time of a lot of exciting technology and relative peace for the US. But we still had the same enemies then that we have now. The difference is, we weren't facing them. Remember the USS Cole was attacked, the WTC was bombed, we had several embassies attacked. After 9/11 most of us woke up temporarily and realized that Islamic extremists want to eliminate us. Bush has been trying to do something about it. I dont know if it will work in the end, but planting a quasi-free region in the middle east is a step toward solving the problem. Unfortunately, most Democrats are undermining the war effort by showing division and faint heartedness to our enemies. They try to say "Criticism is patriotic", but not the way they criticize. They don't suggest solutions. They only say it was a mistake (even if it was, we're there and we need to win (the war in Iraq that is, not Democrats in the next election, which is really all they care about, I'm afraid). Second guessing something that cannot be changed is not helpful and has no chance of being helpful. We need suggestions on how we can win the war.
Meanwhile, China is letting us do the dirty work, while they sit on the side lines and get rich and powerful. I could go on with this, but I'll just leave it at that.
I'm not a Bush apologist...he leaves a lot to be desired in a president, but I think the war of terrorism is the thing he's doing the most right. In other ways, he is contributing to the end of the US as a superpower. 1. Huge deficit spending, which will continue to devalue our dollar 2. Letting illegal immigration continue and encouraging it. We're taking in more new immigrants than we can assimilate into our culture and educate. Plus the quality of our immigrants is going down (I'm not speaking racially here....I'm talking about moral character and education) When you let anyone in, you get a lot more criminals and a lower percentage of good, honest people. Also the people coming in tend to be ignorant and not well educated....good news for Democrats. They're easier to lie to and manipulate. Why Bush and McCain are sucking up to illegals, I don't know. Either there under the delusion that it will give more votes to them or they have some other agenda that they arent being up front about.
To sum it up, I'm pessimistic about the future of America. But the main reason is not for the reasons above. It is because we've become an ever more hedonistic society. Most of us are ignorant and either don't know it or dont care or both. Mostly what we care about is getting laid without any commitment, and getting stuff without caring whether or not we contribute anything of value in return.
What we need to focus on is the other end of both equations. Contributing to making our society better and commiting to being the best husbands, wives, mothers, and fathers that we can be. After that we need to get educated and informed.
MLK said we should be judged "..by the content of our character." So if you want to have a better future, work on developing your character. Our country and the world needs you to, and you'll benefit personally from it more than you might think.

Agreed. Clinton was no saint but I idon't see how people can say Clinton was Satan on earth for lying about getting a knob job and people will defend to the death the fact that Bush started a war under false pretenses and is stripping our freedom away bit by bit by using terrorism and fear of 9/11 against us.

I didn't realize how stupid the majority of the country is until bush was in power either. It really bums me out.

I always feel optimistic and good when the democrats are in control because I don't feel like everything I do, every action I take, and every thought I have is being monitored or judged. Sort of like working for a MICRO manager versus an adult that lets you get your work done and doesn't care how you do it as long as you get the task accomplished. With the dem's it seems that it's go get on with your lives have a good time doing it where as with repub's it seem like they are always saying it's our way or the highway. If you don't like how we do it get out.

I fear a third World War. I'm scared to read about the rapture as everything seems like it's been predicted.

I agree. We are headed for doom. We are in tremendous debt and are hated by almost every country in the world. N. Korea wants to wipe us out. WW3 is right around the corner while our Chimp In Chief yells "Bring it on."

i have more faith in america with bush in charge than clinton. his list of violations are legion; abuse of presidential power, rape, perjury, obstruction of justice, treason, adultery, graft...just to name a few, and dont let me forget to mention that he was impeached and disbarred. are you seriously saying you had faith in his leadership and want to bring a family into that type of culture? oh, and let us not forget his total disrespect for the office of president of the united states of america and his wife and daughter. he is and always will be a slimy, loathsome being.

now you know how i really feel. oh that felt good!
