yes they can compete with the best in the league if they all stay healthy... we cant really predict the future but t-mac already began practicing this summer and it was reported that he did not feel any back pain, so that's good news to begin with... yao is in china right now and he was cleared by team doctors to do light workout, they said yao was recovering faster than expected...
they also signed shane battier who'll help them tremendously by being that 3rd scoring option behind yao and tmac, something stro swift failed to do...battier is a tested veteran and he will address two of the glaring needs of the rockets which are defense and outside shooting, he has the size and ability to match up against shooting forwards like nowitzki...
the rockets fell short of acquiring mike james which would have been awesome... but i think they are not finished dealing, i still expect them to pursue other free agents like marcus banks, deshawn livingston, rashaul butler, and trevor ariza...
overall, they still are 1 or 2 pieces away from the championship but definitely they are going in the right direction with battier...

I am pretty sure that they can stay healthy and compete for the Western Conference Champsions. Last year was tough, T-Mac got hurt and you know that Yao rarely gets hurt. Besides that they almost made the playoffs but when T-Mac got injury than they lost their chance. In 2005 they were very good but lost to the Mav. in Game 7. It is going to be tough but I am pretty sure that they should make the playoffs next year because they got T-Mac and Yao.

Nope.
I'm a Grizz fan, I think your team did what it had to do in trading us Gay and Swift for Battier (thanks, by the way...hated to lose Shane but LOVE getting Rudy). It will help stabilize your team.
However, T-Mac is never going to play close to a full season again, and without that outside scoring threat, Yao can only do so much down low. Even as his stats improve, he's just not intimidating to other teams. Case in point: The Grizzlies played him straight up with Lorenzen Wright. We have been one of the worst rebounding teams in the league for years now.
My assessment is that unless you can get a solid outside scoring threat (James would've been a welcome addition), the most you will get with your current team, when healthy, is maybe a 6 seed. Of course, the good news for you is, it appears the Rockets are not done dealing yet.

I don't think they can stay healthy. My friend picked T-Mac for his fantasy basketball team first rd. Boy did he regret it. It seemed like when he came back to play it was too soon and he got re-injured again. Hes just too fragile of a player to lead his team to the playoffs.
