i do no longer hate the French or Canadians, yet i'm no longer partial to them the two. edit: nicely, I do like Canadians for the main section, however the French i think of would desire to make certain who their allies are and who their enemies are, via fact they seem at a loss for words.

curious_girl, note that this was after the French declared their strong opposition to the United States in 2003, in regards to the controversial invasion of Iraq. This re-naming was symbolic. It told France we were sick of their "continued refusal to stand with their U.S. allies".
Also, please note that "french" fries actually come from Belgium, not France, so this misnomer should have been changed in the first place.
This renaming has been done before, with Germany's sauerkraut into liberty cabbage and hamburgers into liberty steaks. Even in other countries this re-naming is common: restaurants in Berlin didn't serve Italian Salad, St. Petersberg was renamed Petrograd.
As for the original question, I do not see this prejudice. French-American T.V. has been created; plenty of movies, recently such as X-Men: The Last Stand have been created in Vancouver, moving the labor and money to Canada. Plenty of big-name stars are Canadians, such as Jim Kerry and Alanis Morrisette.
Specifically in television, many Canadians have appeared on American programs, such as Stargate: Atlantis, Simpsons, Seinfeld, X-Files, Star Trek, South Park, Friends, and That 70's Show. Nearly all of these characters (I cannot verify each and every one) have been treated as any other character. One example of a French-Canadian character in Simpsons was in "Skinner's Sense of Snow" (season twelve) where the circus comes to town, and the pamphlet states, "As French-Canadians, they don't believe in refunds or exploiting animals for entertainment".
Please do more research before you make such drastic generalities. After less than five minutes of research I have found several references to French and Canadians who have not been "hated" by the other characters.
BTW, next time, please phrase your question properly. A person on television in France obviously does not hate the French.
I assumed you were referring to America in your question.

I don't think they hate them, they just make fun... ya know, to get a laugh. I'm from Canada and I don't have any problems with it... It's all for the ratings too.
