When I am interviewing a potential teacher, I look for the following things:
1. Does the person have background with kids? What experiences can you highlight?
2. Is the candidate knowledgeable in their field (Title I has LOTS of rules to follow--make sure you are up to speed!)?
3. Is the candidate enthusiastic and up-beat when talking about children?
4. Were they on time (which means about 10-15 minutes early), well-groomed (which means fairly conservatively dressed and looking like a professional), and pleasant?
5. Did the candidate have something to say when I asked them to tell me about themselves? Something OTHER than what is on the resume?
6. Was the application typewritten and resume professional? Did the applicant bring a resume in case we needed it?
7. Did the candidate shake hands with all interviewers and make eye contact with all interviewers throughout the interview?
8. Did the candidate seem genuine and caring for all people, especially children in any situation?
Good luck with your interviews! You could visit my school's Title I website if you are looking for ideas: http://teacherweb.com/ND/Garrison/title1/index.html

are u interviewing others or being interviewed? well, in any case, a good impression shows lack of understanding in the word of teaching; u see, being a teacher does not require a good impression; but it demands impressive ways of teaching that does make an impact on the learner; i'm not sure which case u r in

Interviewing for a teaching position is similar to any other job.
Here are a few keys that schools look for in a teacher-
strong background, good references, positive outlook, desire to teach (and work with ALL students, this is a major priority) especially in that school, dedication to the school, good personal hygiene, strong, to the point speaker.

If you have previous teaching experience ie sunday school, vacation bible school, tutoring etc. They also like to hear you would be willing to help the kids who are behind get caught up. Good personal hygene, knowledgable speaker, hands on teaching. Dress for success. Go looking like you don't need the job! =o) Good Luck!! I'll be in your shoes in 1 more year!
