Now, FIFA is looking into how Materazzi abused Zidane. FIFA finds Materazzi guilty and cancel his goals against France which means Italy is beaten in the final, and finally, the Cup is recalled.

Both punishment should have equal status. Materazzi's punishment 'll have restropective effect.

NOOOOO!!

Materazzi should and hopefully be punished but no way to go that far. The Italian team can't be blamed for Materazzi's mistake.

Standstill_22's answer is hilarious...I can see it now: the Italians will throw pasta at the FIFA execs!!!

The French should just stop it. They should simply go home and focus on the next euro and world cup. It is through defeat that most teams become champions later on: BY LEARNING FROM THEIR MISTAKES. And the French made huge tactical mistakes in the Final, not to mention the biggest mistake of all: Zidane falling into Materazzi's trap (someone should have restrained Zidane before he did that, just like when Wade restrained Shaq in game 5 of this year's NBA final, when he obviously wanted to swipe back at the Mavericks player who shoved him off the court). First of all, they should have continued their own game after scoring first instead of defending a 1-0 result. Everyone knows that that is a difficult thing to do. Second of all, they should have kept their best penalty shooters in place; Trezeguet did not play for the entire tournament, and low and behold, Domenech puts him in in the Final?!? The Italians played a defensive, tactical, sometimes dirty football and had luck on their side and the necessary calm and composure to win the penalty shootouts. The French and all the teams that lost should analyze what they did wrong and come back in 2010 to make sure the Italians bow out early!!!HAHAHA

No. If Materazzi is found guilty of racial abuse, he will be suspended for 5 matches and fined 6,600 Euros. This is what an Italian sports newspaper was reporting today.

The match could be replayed only if the side referee had seen the incident on video. But Fifa officially stated that he didn't.

Hell no. Then lets first start off with cancelling the bull **** PK that Zidane scored in the first place. Absolutely not. It is over. Italy won.
They are going to find him guilty of what, trash talking. Then they should cancel the whole tournament.

I think it's a pathetic notion from a pathetic french team who can't let the game go.

And just to think that in '02 and '04 people where shiting on Italians calling them sore losers. They to are pathetic

Pathetic to the point where their dream is to see ITALY stripped of a cup based on some stupid technicality that is not related to what the players do on the field. PATHETIC.

If you dislike Italy then its simple, don't say stupid things that make your jealousy obvious. Can you Italian haters arrive to that point? WE JUST FEED OFF YOUR JEALOUSY and win anyway

Materazzi did nothing out of the ordinary and Zidane flipped out. Live with it people.

I'm sure everyone's rubbing their hands and licking their lips about a story that involves racism just to read bullsh#$ and keep you amused.

in one word: PATHETIC

No tht's impossible..if they find both guilty what would they do..cancel both the goals in the final ??? Stop being ridiculous.

Materazzi can be banned for a couple of games..can be slapped with a fine...worst he can be stripped off his winners medal.

No. his goal won't be "canceled" because it was a fair game.if he is found guilty he'll be punished, couple of games without playing or something.
