Just curious what people seems. It seems that I can ask a stupid question (maybe like this one), answer a meaningless question or notice a question like "What should I name my dog?" and they all get tons of replies. I ask a question on religion, politics, etc. ask the replies are few and far between. Should this worry or upset me? Does this say anything about society or am I just paranoid?

Laugh then educate. It is important to remember that one can become too serious which can lead to undue stress, stroke, heart attack. Make your point, don't let the point make you. Peace. etc... Peace.

Personally I like to look through the list of questions and respond to those that peak my interest. I lke to think they do have some meaning. I try to stay away from the silly, though sometimes humour get the better of me. As to whether or not you should be worried. I dont think so. Not that such a trend would not be worrying, but that I think you are noticing the function of the structure of this site in affecting what people respond to: ie, I imagine that most people only read the fist 2 or 3 pages of questions, providing answers as they go. So if your question only stays in the front pages for a short while it possibly wont get much attention. Not sure if this helps, but I dont think I would be worrying yet.

Um, Bob B...no one wants to answer a question that sounds like it's coming from a perv.
To the original question, I think most of the people on yahoo answers are younger and probably don't know what the hell you're talking about. I don't think YOU should be worried or upset and most definitely not paranoid. You are thinking way too hard for such site. Just calm down, smile and have a coke and a smile.
Cheers!

Try again in religion, you can get a huge response sometimes, just include teenagers sex and some sort of perversion or fetish.

If you have not figured it out a serious question needs serious thought to answer, but if you get one good answer it is worth the effort, some of us cater to the pointless by throwing out some "gimme" answers, sometimes we put out answers that are only looking simple and those are to see if people are thinking about the question, or to check what people are thinking. Another point is that you have people on here from every where with every age and every level of education. that dumb question might be from a university prof. or from a poor lonely little kid. It could be from a cranky old senior cit zen needing to vent or a bored computer tech trying to yank your chain. and on and on. If you can not face this with a sense of humour and realize that there are jokers on here as well as the overly serious, that the demented are side by side with the simple then just pick and choose who and what you answer where. You soon get to recognize the jokers and some of the questions need a bit of thought to answer properly, especially the ones that are fictions, can you find the fictions, are you sure.

I know what you mean I asked if you can make a wish for some one other than your self I got 40+ replies Then I ask how to help a child adjust to a step parent and get 7 , but to answer you question some people just answer the silly questions because its easier to answer and they don't have to worry about offending anyone

i know gay moms and dads that are extra valuable moms and dads than maximum immediately couples i know (self coated). the affection is more suited and the kin is closer. there is not some thing incorrect with desiring a kin. there is not some thing incorrect with wanting to have little ones, i'm bisexual, married to a guy, and that i have an 8 year old son. We seize adequate flak for everybody on the following. notwithstanding, my son replaced right into a manufactured from my first marrige, his mom needs not some thing to do with him or me. He loves me and his mom as his moms and dads, yet i imagine he loves his different dad purely as a lot. we've in common words been jointly because 2006, and each thing is large. he calls both one people Dad, yet he calls me Daddy or Dad Dad. he's a immediately A scholar (at a private college) and is extremely time-honored such as his acquaintances, notwithstanding, this would have some thing to do with our social type. Are you counting the smart a$$ answers? Cause there are tons of them! To me people don't want to be serious about a whole lot so they don't answer a "serious" question or they give a lame answer. Basically, society only cares about sex & having fun. Which is OK to a degree. I personally, don't discuss my religious beliefs or views with just anyone so that's why I don't answer those questions.

I think alot of people don't want to take the time to respond to serious questions, so they respond with sarcasm or with what they see as humor. Maybe some are here only for entertainment and not enlightenment. It is sad, and it does worry me to see so much hate and intolerance (esp in the religion and spirituality section.)
Are you from Port Huron? I am.

Meaningless questions don't require a lot of thought and everybody can answer in a smartass way. So it gets a lot of answers. Also why should I turn down a chance at getting 2 points? :)

I don't come here to think too hard. This is for amusement. If I can help someone along the way, fine. I like to help people, call it the big sister in me. But the heavy philosophical questions just don't interest me, what's the point, after all?
