There are so many dead beat moms and dad in this country. The are hundreads of thousands of children who go unsupported because the absentee parent has better things to do with their time and money. For some, the threat of having their driver's license suspended, or their pay check or tax returned garnished, or jail time doesn't seem to do the trick. Maybe an apoointment with the needle would be more motivating. If you bring a child into this world have the decency to provide a quality life for them.

I agree with you My husbands ex owes over 6000 in child support I am raising the children and have for years and I stay home and do without so they can have and she runs to the bars,goes to concerts,gets her hair done,affords a nice wedding with a new man and does not support the children.I am not complaining I love the children but it is not fair to them at all.

Yes. There would be.
I don't know that I would debate the effectiveness of the punitive system for child support evaders but what I will say is that no two cases are alike. There are many legal and political figures that abuse the system as well.
What I like to say is that no matter what the mother or the father are doing, the real losers are the children. NO ONE is focusing on the children. This makes me angry.

As with any law enacted by mankind -
The law may be a good one, and incur an excellent penalty, BUT - enforcement of that law is always the problem. . .
And have you considered a reality that encourages, and actually fosters the 'dead beat' parent situation in our land?
Many parents have figured the economics -
staying in a position of responsible provider does not pay or provide for their children as well as 'leaving' - and allowing them to be eligible for tax payer assistance (AFDC and Medicaid).
Whatcha gunna do? Stay and watch your kids 'do without' - or leave, and let the State do better for them than you can?

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ i remeber way back as a child thinking im going to do this and i wont get cuaght or im gonna smoke and worry about it tomorrow always what the future brings is not what i worried about . it was always the day i was living in right now, with that said i think it explains the coralation between dead beat dads and a child like behavior some people just never grow up i dont care how big your muscles are how tall you are how much money you make some males think they are men when a real man doesnt bail on his children a real man does what is right regardless of whether its fun or not a real man would loose his legs for what is right .... boys having children then teaching these children how to be grown boys..... sorry to babble but it is a sore subject for me aswell, ty for a great topic starter.... teach your children to be men not grown boys.......

Of course there would be. These people don't care they would still try and most would succeed in hiding out to keep from paying. Sounds like a good idea to me but I know some who can punish far worse than man. I have a father his name is Jesus.

I know that my dad would probably rather die than shell out a cent for my sister and I, especially considering that when he's made to pay up the back child support, he's got to pay college tuition for both of us until we're done with school, even if we're 40 before we do it.

I think it would help some but prolly not all that much. The people who don't support their children have no respect for human life. If they did they would care about what kind of life their child had and support them. Some people are so ignorant that they'd just as soon die as support their children. It sickens me that they produce children but are unwilling to support them.

its that they dont really enforce the laws they already have on the books, i filed in dec of last year, they got his social and his address but still nothing since he lives in another state, and you gotta get so far behind before they will garnish wages that its alot of bullsh*t,
