I have a 2006 Honda Civic, I heard Seibon makes the best carbon fiber hood. Do I really need a hood pin?

"Keep your new carbon fiber or fiberglass hood secure with a set of Carbon Creations Hood Pins. They are universal to fit most applications, inexpensive, and highly recommended by the SCO Tuner Pros!" - http://www.sportcompactonly.com/products.aspx?l=2&c=100048

They LOOK cool.

Do you need them?....... Probably not.

Do you want them?........Oh Yeah!

If you get pushed outta shape and air gets under the hood. Your nice Carbon cover is gonna stay with the ride.

Hey...do you think that guy above meant "Aesthetics" (looks)
He said "Prosthetics" (like a glass eye or wooden leg)

I got a laugh out of it so...Thanks to him.

Ok, here is what will happen without Hood Pins: You must rely on the stock hinges and striker plates (latches) for the hood - on a Fiberglass or Carbon hood that will cause the hood to break or crack so you MUST remove these things and install these hood pin kits.

IF you decide you can skip them, your hood may work for a few careful closes, but it will break or crack from the stress (even with metal supports in the hood)

Hood pins only serve one purpose on a street car. Looks. That's why you don't see them on anything but kiddie car rice rockets. If your carbon fiber hood is in that much danger of blowing off, the crooks that sold it to you would be required to supply hood pins. Alas, they're not.

YES! the air going over the car will try to pull the hood upward when at highway speed and overpower the hood latch. I have seen it happen personally

I believe the manufacturer of the hood should have that information regarding the best installation and maintenance procedures. Ask and they should tell.
