Did you go any place special (locally) for your honeymoon/wedding? Maybe get a memento from that special place, write a letter of how perfect that time was, and how glad you are that you are married

With me, I've been married for 30 years, the best gift is the the love, the honest, the open talk. Do not worry about the anniversary day. You can move it late.
I wish you a happy marriage. Keep in mind that, there is no perfect person, so no perfect marriage. The secret that works for me is try not to yell each other. If your partner want to win in any fight, let him win. Discuss later. If he can not listen, That is not the person you can not share you life with.

Hello SC Dragon:
Congradulations! I am so happy you are sharing this with us. You are obviously in love and want to share.....love it.
Well, the thought as you know is the most powerful. Find a poem at the library.....wander through the books there---Keats, and find something romantic and passionate....make a card and ...well, have a wonderful bath and wear your best and put your smile on.....
ummm
wishing you a wonderful day.
luv
Ava
p.s.
I'LL never love Thee more (poem)
My dear and only Love, I pray
That little world of thee
Be govern'd by no other sway
than purest monarchy;
For if confusion have a part
(Which virtuous souls abhor),
And hold a synod in thine heart,
I'll never love thee more.
(1612--Graham)

A traditional gift for a first anniversary would be made of paper. I would suggest some sort of origami.
Perhaps you could buy one or find someone locally to make you something cool. It would also be easy to ship overseas and I bet he would get a huge kick out of it.

Since he is currently away, I would suggest a romantic evening alone with no company. Try and cook a nice meal that he really enjoys, and make sure you have a nice desert. Also a bit of lingere wouldnt hurt either. Good luck.

Well, since he's in Iraq.....send him some homemade cookies.....with a card saying "Can't wait to see you......you have an even sweeter surprise awaiting your arrival!! ;)" or a love poem that you've composed yourself......you can REALLY celebrate right when he's home safe.......Happy Anniversary (early)!!!
