Edinburgh is the most amazing, vibrant city in the UK, you will never be lost for things to do and see. I guess you will probably begin by walking the fantastic Royal Mile, which leads from the wonderful castle to The Palace of Holyrood House ( the official Scottish residence of the Queen ), just to sit outside one of the many bars or cafes watching the world go by is fun. Believe me you will love Edinburgh.

depends on how long you're going to be living for. Princes St is good for shopping, the Royal mile for loads of history and a good few bars too. If you're backpacking try Brodies Hostel (1 or 2) on the Royal Mile. If you're here at the beginning of September, there's the big firework display from the castle. I'm sure you'll love your time here.

Get out of Edinburgh and go to Glasgow, the west coast is better.
Where are you moving from?
