Its something to do, and you feel like you might be helping someone solve a problem, no matter how stupid you think the question is, the person asking might not.

who's the judge of what constitutes a stupid question? the asker might be serious, the answerer might be serious, who knows?
then there's the saying 'there are no stupid questions, only stupid people" :)
