I had hamsters a long time ago, and I couldn't keep the sexes apart.

If you have a choice, get 2 males. The females sometimes bite, but I never had a male bite me. Males are usually nicer. I had the long haired teddybears and ended up keeping 2 brothers together in the same aquarium, and they got along great. The best part, I didn't have to worry about finding homes for all of the babies.

If you end up with a pair of hamsters, you will probably have babies born. After a while, when you run out of people who will take them, you will end up putting up an ad. The nicest people who respond to the ad might be snake people.

Stick with boy hamsters, and you can't go wrong.

Well, technically no. There are complications when it comes to breeding a brother and a sister from the same litter. Some times when the babies are born the mother will know there is something wrong with the babies, and she will eat them .

Now if you want to breed so bad I would check into looking for another hamster to breed , but make sure they can breed. The best resource I can give you is getting a book on hamsters and reading up on everything you need to know about taking care of a hamster and also breeding hamsters.

Here is just a few reminder: make sure you have the cages that is ready for your little fury friends to come home to. Also if you have more than one hamster, keep them in separate cages.

I decided to answer your question because my boyfriend and I have 13 hamsters of our own. Now if you have any more questions please feel free to e-mail me at Angela_angel_of_hell@yahoo.com

well if one is a girl and one is a boy, and there from the same litter, yes they will mate! My friend had two hamsters, and then they mated, ok then there kids mated with eachother, and so on that they ended up with 55 hamsters in less than a year! If there the same gander, yea put them in the same cage. But if there not, i say separate them!! Or else you'll be like my friend!

Yes you can breed them, If they are the syrian or Golden Hamster they are derived from a female and two young (1 male and 1 female ) that were found in the wild in the 1920's. They will need to be housed seperatley as they will fight if the female is not fertile. Have alook at the care sheets on www.artsaquaticsandanimals.com for help.

Absoloutly no way! Hamsters are territorial, rather male syrians (that's the real breed call on your hamster, panda is only a nickname) they are going to strive against to the shortcoming of life if placed with yet another hamster, or maybe go nas a procedures as eating it in a lot of situations. Dont probability it. They dont stay jointly in the wild and dont stay jointly as pets.

Indeed they can still mate and depsite one of them being a golden hamster and a teddybear hamster they can still mate. The whole moral issue regarding incest doesnt apply to most animals, especially hamsters.

Yes they can, and likely will mate. However hamsters (excluding some types of dwarf hamsters) are solitary and should be housed seperately shortly after they are weaned.

Inbreeding is very common with animals, and many fanciers or hobbyists will tell you that it is completely okay for them to breed as long as they are regularly outcrossed to avoid genetic defects.

Most hamsters will fight if housed together as they get older. And yes, a male and female from the same litter will breed if given a chance. It is not a good idea.

Yes, they can and they will unless they are the same gender. And they are sexually mature at 2 weeks. That's lots of hamsters coming at you! Hamsters prefer to be alone. Even coming from the same litter, they could fight - and they fight to the death when kept in cages. It is much better to have only one at a time unless you have multiple cages for them.
