To Smithy: Zidane is French by birth, his parents are Algerian.
If I were Zidane, I wouldn't want to look at the cup, neither. Zidane was probably upset because of his actions and who it affected the most; the children.
I could start up a whole "Materazzi sucks!" thing but, I'm so tired of that.

He isn't French - he is Algerian. He wanted it, but he wasn't going to let some racist pig make a comment about his mother being a terrorist (she's in the hospital with cancer by the way). He isn't proud of what he did - cup or no cup. He isn't French! Many players on WC teams are not from that country.

No, in football no man or woman seems at replays. inspite of the Ref says is going. He can notwithstanding, confer with the different 2 officals (the line adult men) and ask them. and they could propose him on the decision to make. that is what surpassed off the day previous to this. The ref requested the lineman what surpassed off, and he advised him to provide Zidan the red.

What does that have to do with anything? No offense or anything, but I think he was a little too crossed to think about anything BUT how he would be remembered. His career was ending, and he just head-butted an ignorant Italian after being called a son of a terrorist whore. I don't think looking at the cup was his first priority.

Because he felt so stupid realizing what he did.
No offensive word justify his stupid and dangerous behaviour, I know a guy died some years ago to be haed-butted....
Now the world blames Zidane, he didn't deserve to look at the cup, he knew he didn't deserve to hold it in his hands....that's it

He was upset and felt that he had let is team down which he did, it's hard to look at your country men when you have blown the game for them, in a way i would call it guilty feelings and maybe remorse for what he done.
