They dodn't really keep "files" on people unless they are investigated for security clearances or criminal activity. You are free to write the FBI with a FOIA request & they will send you the full copy of evertyhing they have unless it is part of an ongoing investigation. The IRS is probably the only place that actually maintains much information, but it's just searchable data entery of your past tax filings. You're just a little too paranoid about the supposedly evil big brother type govt. Let me promise you from experience that they are so freakin unorganized & fighting back & forth between each other that they are lucky to get anything done ever, much less the KGB sort of spying on Americans you're implying. Even if you have a security clearance chances are you don't have much more than your questionaire & fingerprint card on file.

Oh- I would really hope they'd have better things to do with their time and resources than "keep files" on people like us!

Very little. I'm not important enough and neither are most people. Your insinuation is absurd. This is a tiny problem blown out of proportion by those who are afraid because of what they've done.
