Is that rubbing alcohol? Because I've tried that on my back (to clear up acne for summer swimsuits) and it really, really worked. Also shrunk pores on my nose... ^_^;;

No, the peroxide I haven't tried... be careful with either of these, they weren't meant for constant epidermal use, but if it works -- it works. =)

I don't know about hydrogen peroxide, you may check a medical website on that one. As far as alcohol goes, many people are allergic to it and it causes irritation to the skin and makes the problem worse. Stay away from over the counter stuff. My suggestion is to wash your face with a warm wash cloth that has salt sprinkled on it. No need to scub too hard, just a good wash and rinse. The best time would be in the shower when the pores are open. Leave the salt on until you are about to get out, then rinse. That will give it time to work.

Salt has very good healing properties that will draw out the acne and dry it up. Don't pick or pinch the acne, it will only make it worse.

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

It does disinfect acne, which will help heal it, but you are somewhat correct about the bad effects. There is some evidence that it slows growth of new skin cells...not good if you're fighting acne! I don't know that it discolors skin but it may. Benzoyl peroxide is a better acne medicine.
