When you are tired your body is probably needing rest and nutrients. Caffeinated beverages actually cause your adrenal glands to artificially pump out hormones that give your body a "fight or flight" response. In other words, it puts your body into a stress position so that it causes your body to secrete stored glucose and stress even more. It will actually deplete your system of nutrients and eventually can cause what is termed adrenal exhaustion. So that while you may get a short term boost of energy it will sacrifice your health in the long run.
There are some drinks that can be refreshing and helpful. One is a packett called Emergen-C. It is a powdered packet that has C and B vitamins and all kinds of nice flavors that you can add to your water and it gives a vitamin boost. There is a brand of vitamin water that sells as well as making protein shakes. You may consider some small meals throughout the day so that your blood sugar doesn't get low which will cause tiredness. And if all else fails take a 10 minute nap. Also, regular exercise keeps things more tuned up and will give you more energy. Yoga is great with deep breathing. Good luck! This is an important question.

a few things that could help: protein - make sure you are getting enough in your diet. protein elevates blood sugar levels and keeps them level for longer (as opposed to sugars/carbohydrates) so you don't get the mid-afternoon "crash". Foods high in protein: meats (even lean meats) and dairy products (cottage cheese, cheese, milk).
You can also purchase a B -complex vitamin over the counter (vitamin aisle), B vitamins are a source of energy and many find it helps them to get through the day. Also be sure you are getting adequate rest and not relying on caffeinated beverages which can just cause rebound tiredness. Some say that working out also gives them more energy - and helps them to sleep at night.

I've tried a product made by the makers of the "Chaser" products... it is called "5-hour Energy".. I mean it works but (althought it might just be caffeine), but you feel it right after you drink it.
