From the study I have done, in the last century, the Dems were at the helm with each and every war (the U.S.) has been involved with! And if the Dems wish to keep score, (with the casualties of wars) The Dems have lost again! So, my question is "How can the Dems be SO bold as tosay that the GOP, are War Mongers"?

Democrats hesitate to deploy US forces. They view foreign policy as diplomacy only (i.e. no military options), which can work, but not when you deal with cultures that respect force (Islam, Japan, etc) and thuggish nations. With a democrat in power, the world knows that the US probably won't get involved, so they can get away with a lot.

Republicans know that a strong military adds a lot to our diplomatic clout. We don't always have to deploy our military, but the threat of it goes very far. And when we do, we stick around for the long haul - no cutting and running - which in turn helps American credibility.

So if the GOP is a band of warmongers, the left is a bunch of paper tigers without the backbone to use (or threaten to use) the military which we've invested so much in.

Because the wars that started when Democrats were in office were instigated by someone else, World War II for example. Vietnam started during the Eisenhower administration in the 1950's although it did become LBJ's war in the '60's and cause his downfall. This latest boondoggle is solely Bush's war since he's a psychopath who is essentially kill crazy although he didn't have the guts to serve in the military when he was younger hiding instead in the Air National Guard.

The Democrats have over the years, realized the folly and foolishness of war for no reason - such as Iraq (where are all those wmd's?) and are waiting for the ignorant Republicans to catch up with them and realize that we in the words of John Lennon need to "give peace a chance." Fortunately, some Republicans have seen the light, but not enough yet to bring the troops home.

It is human nature and perception. For example, if one person perceives a risk but another individual does not, then that person would be viewed as a hawk and the other a dove.

It is as old as mankind.

correction: Korea was created by the U.S, where Truman used a treaty as a tool. Vietnam was very interesting, Congress never voted to goto war.

As for Iraq, Congress voted and approved to goto war. That would mean both Dems and the GOP approved.

Yes, Iraq fired a missle and hit the USS Stark in 1987.

Go back in your keester, the air is addleing you again. The German's sunk the Lusitania, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, the Korean's crossed the line at Soviet behest to test western resolve for the then only other country with a nuke, Eisenhower (R), supported the French and commited the first US troops, 30,000 to Vietnam, Bush 1 (R) saved the oil and Bush 2 (R) kicked the dog because he didn't know who else to attack and too make billions for his friends. You would be speaking Japanese if the likes of recent republclowns had been in charge, so thank your good fortune Democrats were there.

The democrats defended our country with the exception of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and there we were ask to come in by their governments. The repukes attacked a sovereign country for no real good reason other then to profit from the spoils over the body's of the dead. You should be ashamed for comparing any war in the last century with the Iraqi war.

i'm a liberal Democrat, yet I consider the theory of your question. even as it is composed of overseas coverage, the Dems have in no way been any extra valuable than the Republicans, although WWII replaced into as close as one receives to a very necessary conflict. also, enable's not ignore that between the most undesirable crimes in conflict replaced into dedicated with the help of Democrat Harry Truman, who murdered and maimed thousands of 1000's of eastern with the help of making the U. S. the in common words u . s . a . in the international ever to apply nuclear bombs. That suggested, in modern-day years, Carter, Clinton, and Obama seem a lot less militaristic than the timber or Reagan.

They only say it because of this war. It's easy to overlook all the other facts when you are on the attack. They are so pissed off that they lost yet another election that they are throwing everything they can at the republicans to try and halt the workings of the government. The republicans did this same thing to Clinton, but it was easier then because the scandals just kept on coming, one right after the other. Its was quite embarrassing to the staff. Anyway.....they are giving it back to us.

The wrong war, at the wrong time, in the wrong place.

No matter the history of warfare, the fact remains this is a huge mistake that about 30% of the nation is too damn bullheaded to admit.

And to the moron below, the US did not START WWI, WWII, Korea OR Vietnam. They were all in swing when we, rightly or wrongly, got involved.

This little incident in Iraq is OUR creation, OUR mess, OUR crime.

Granada - Reagan
First Gulf War - Bush
Afghanistan - Dumber Bush
Second Gulf War - Dumber Bush
