Well, there are many ways people used to practice medicine...and for the person above who said that yeast infections probably didnt exist back then is an IDIOT because obviously yeast has been around for quite some time. From what I know of herbal remedies which is what most people in ancient times used to take care of thier sicknesses I have read that women would use such things as Echinacea, Garlic or Wild Indigo as anti-microbials taken internally and also American Cranesbill, Beth root, False unicorn root, life root, oak and periwinkle as astringents for external use. A mixture I found can be used internally when prepared as a tea and externally when made as an infusion..
2 parts each of - American Cranesbill, Beth root, Echinacea, Periwinkle and Cleavers.
It is probably similar to what a woman would have used in ancient times but I cant say for sure but since Herbal medicine was widely used and is the ancestor of modern medicine, IO think it is likely that they would have used similar remedies as are used in herbal medicine today

Due to warmer weather, yeast infections are more common in the summer. It's also never a good idea to stay in wet swim suit bottoms for a long period of time. Yeast loves moisture and heat! **Don't share swimsuits/undies with your sister! (or any one else!!!) **Eat Lots of yogurt! The live-active cultures in yogurt help prevent yeast infections---And It's YUMMY TOO! ----

I dunno but I imagine it was tortuous. Yeast infection will most likely resolve on their own when given time...as long as it's not caused by long-term antibiotic use and the source of the infection is removed (ie, if you sat around in a wet bathing suit for too long). It is just an inbalance of the 'good' bacteria that protect you from opportunistic organisms (in this case - a fungus). most times your body will resolve this for you.

Probably ate yogurt.
It has stuff in it that helps, look for yogurt that says it has "live" or "active" cultures in it. You can also apply it topically, just be sure to buy plain non sweetened (organic would be good but not required) yogurt.
