You can go to Dun and Bradstreet and find out a lot of information about that company, as well as checking out Hoovers.com, which will give you lots of info.

If the company has a website, they may have quarterly and annual financials you can view on their site, as well as press releases/news.

You can check out if they are public or privately listed on the stock market....which you can find certain financial information about.

And you can also find someone to appraise and audit the financials to find out the worth of the company you are wanting to purchase. You have a lot of resources to look into.
