It took me a little over a year to get pregnant, but I miscarried then. Then about 2 years later I was ready to try again, and miscarried again. Now 3 years after the last miscarriage and 6 after the Depo shot, I am ready to give it one last shot.

Often women who have come off the depo shot have trouble conceiving, because it takes a long time for their bodies to regulate themselves again. This is because the depo shot works by altering your hormones, and it upsets the delicate balance of hormones that make a woman ovulate and release an egg each month. Other women have been very lucky, and have been able to conceive within a few months of quitting the depo shot. We are all different.
I'm going to include the link to a trying to conceive forum that I think you might find useful. It's full of supportive women with boundless knowledge about these issues. I have learnt so much there that I doubt I would have learnt otherwise. There are also a few women in the forum who are trying to conceive after coming off the depo-shot that you may be interested in chatting with.

I stopped taking Depo on Nov 28 and bled straight through (every freaking day, all day) til about March. Not fun. After that, my cycle regulated and I've been like clockwork since. But I'm not trying for a baby either. I'm just going by menstrual flow.
So I would estimate a good 4-6 months before things sort themselves out. However, no two people are alike and some may have an easier time conceiving, and some will have a harder time.

I have been off the shot since July 2005 and my husband and I are still trying to concieve. I was told that on average it clears out of your system in 9-10 months, but everybody is different. Some people get pregnant right away, and some can get pregnant till atleat 18 months after.

With my first pregnancy I was on the shot for about a year and stopped taking it. It took us a year to get pregnant. (we were trying ALOT) The second time I was on the shot I was only on it for 6 months and decided to stop taking it. It took us 3 months to get pregnant (an accident). So I really think it all depends on your system.

It took me 16 months to get pregnant after 9 months of Depo. Of that time, it took 8 months after my last shot to get my menstrual cycle back and another couple months before I was ovulating regularly. I recommend registering at http://fertilityfriend.com and charting your cycles and temperatures to see if you are ovulating. Some people though, do get lucky enough to get pregnant right away, it's different for everyone. I took ONE shot last year, April 2005, and haven't got pregnant yet. Of course we are only just not actively trying to get pregnant, BUT we haven't used any protection except withdrawal.
GOOD LUCK

I have heard of women taking up to a year for them to get their period and another 6 to 12 months to be able to concieve, so it takes a long time!! I have only heard of one case where the woman got pregnant 6 months later, the rest take forever, If I were you I would quit it right now and I would go on the pill or condoms.
