True to a point... Yes a lot of them spend an above average time consuming food or playing with the sirens on their cars - But, The good ones are bogged down with crap from the government - do this, do that, don't damage his human rights (to mug an old lady).. The government is to blame - all this PC crap & red tape.. Remember when you actually had police on the beat, clipping kids round their ears - when was the last time you saw one walking?
After being beaten down by the system - wouldnt you start to use it a bit to benifit you?

I’m in agreement with gawry although I am still living in a country (Thailand) where police corruption is rife. An example is watching the traffic police at work here – pocketing 200 Baht (about £3 or US$5) from each unsuspecting motorist.
In my humble opinion I have never seen or experienced first hand theft by a British policeman. I have experienced incompetence though.

What a dreadful slur on people who try their best with limited resources. Each year a number of them die trying to help the public. Also its a pretty challenging job in which to wait for your pension. I was just wondering what you do that's so much more noble.

30 % of all statistics are made up 90 % of the time.
Sting left the band in the eighties and gave the rest of the band no choice but to wait for there pensions as work has been hard to by.

Most people would commit a crime if they knew they would get away with it.
The police are in that situation. They know all the laws and their training means they know how to commit a crime without risking either detection or prosecution.
They also experience the lack of justice in the legal system and so become cynical about it all.
So why not ?, I know I would !

Have you noticed how people get prosecuted harsher for fraud and stuff like that than murder? You mustn't steal from the Queen now, but she steals so much from many people's pockets when Tax is taken. Just thought that would be an interesting subject to raise as you were on the subject of that...well kinda :)
