The recent mumbai (india) blasts - are a matter of concern.
What do the terrorists stand to gain by killing hundreds of lives? Is there any way to make a good citizen out of a terrorist?

You can't, you'll never stop terrorists. Terrorism has been around since the dawn of mankind. As long as there is something to gain through terrorism there will always be terrorists.

Unfortunately terrorism will never be cured! I believe that whilst there are people who want power there will always be war/terrorism, and the same with religion! Alot of terrorist attacks happen due to religion, this is just a cop out becasue Im sure if there was a god he most definately doesnt want anyone killing each other. Muslims believe that when they are a suicide bomber they will go to Allah and get 72 virgins(if its not 72 dont take offense im not muslim), now why would god want you to commit such an act on other human beigns?

terrorists are such because they believe that their way is the correct way and aim to "rid the world of all percieved evil". I'm not at all backing these people up. In all honesty I dispise them. But as long as you have people like GWB in office it's not gonna stop. And I believe that being a terrorist is the same as being a murderer, there's no way to "make a good citizen" out of them. They don't deserve to be part of society, they're not wanted, by me at least.

Don't you love that response? As long as I show respect and acceptance to the school yard bully, he'll suddenly get it and stop beating me up. phtpht
the only way to deal with a bully is to knock the stinky stuff out of them really hard. Just once is all it takes and the bully picks up on the idea that his behavior isn't in his best interest and will change his ways. In this case, we are like nervous Nelly, the scaredy elephant being picked on by the mouse. When they've bitten on more than our toenails and start having real success at putting us in pain, they will suddenly cease to exist. This is not the way to handle the problems of the middle East. We should draw strong boundaries and punish very hard any group including their supporters who decide to draw our blood. Not about economics, not about oil, not about politics, but when they draw one drop of blood, the elephant's foot should bear all our weight right on top the little laughing mouse.

Terrorism is the tactic of the weak against the strong. Since this dynamic will always exist in society, so shall terrorism.

respect and understanding ?

You have got to be kidding.
If you show that the killing helpless people is getting them what they want you will only get more killing. Look at the news and you see that. Israel gave in and was giving them 95% of what they asked. So want did Israel get out of that deal more dead Jews.

Educate every last human on earth that belief systems suck. Allah, Jesus, Gilgamesh, Poseidon, Zeus, Ra, Baal, etc., etc., ad nauseum. With the collosal knowledge base of the internet at their fingertips, how can people not figure stuff out for themselves???

...life is all about eternity..fullness and such...what comes around goes around...

...let the terrorist define "good citizen" and support that choice...
if we can't, then how can we expect anyone to do the same...

I agree with Nathan. Tacos are our only hope. Crispy goodness to sooth the soul.

You would have to kidnap them and recondition them by hipnosis and mind control, just like their 'teachers' did in the first place.
