A pap test is actually a test for cervical cancer (called the "pap smear" after the guy who developed it, George Papnicolaou).

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the virus that causes genital warts. It is also the leading cause of cervical cancer. There is no cure for HPV, but there IS a vaccine that will keep you from getting it. If you haven't been vaccinated yet and are sexually active, talk to your doctor! Most people with HPV have no visible symptoms, so you can't be sure whether or not your partner is infected just by lookin'. If the warts do develop, they typically look like little pink or flesh-colored swellings in the genital area. Visible warts can be removed with prescription medications, but it will NOT cure you of the virus and the warts can therefore come back.

papiloma: is wart caused by a virus. i think it is considered an std(sexaully transmitted disease). has to be treated by a physician. I don't know if they still freeze them off or use laser technology. Not sure if it is just in the bloodstream. Hope this lil bit of info can help.
