If you make it to 80 that is. I think of 80+ yr olds as liking easy listening music but I wonder if that is because the loud noise of rock is an irritant at an older age or is just more similar to what they liked when they were younger. I can't imagine that I won't still love all the music that I do now. Does music preference change with age?

Hell Yeah!, only I'll be going 'Round & round' in my wheelchair while listening to Ratt.
And, I'll be a whole lot closer to the 'Spirit in the Sky' by Norman Greenbaum.
AC/DC's 'Have a Drink on Me' will most likely be a can of Ensure.
'Can't get no Satisfaction' would be totally true.
'Walk This Way', with a walker.
'Dream On' as I'm nodding off in the middle of the day.
I'll have to 'Turn Up the Radio', with my hearing gone.
Plus, 'Goodbye to Romance', that's for sure.
'Born to be Wild' will mean gettin' on my electric scooter.
'Purple Haze' from my meds; and at that age, no one could ask me 'Are You Experienced?'.
But, I still won't listen to Led Zepplin.

More likely I'll be stroking out and nodding off...

But seriously, I can tell you that musical tastes do change. I listen to rock nowadays (and I still like a lot of it), but even things I liked when I was younger sound too "jangly". The production of the music itself seems more unnatural and jarring to my ear.

On the other hand, I always liked some symphony music even when I was in high school (for reference, that was more than 30 years ago), such as Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. I've grown to appreciate that even more (and hear new things in it) even as my actual ability to hear has decreased with age.

Good question, though.

Speaking for myself: I'm 50 and I like NEW music. Sure, my favorite album of all time is still Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, but I don't like to dwell on many "oldies." I like eminem and Limp Biskit and Los Lonely Boys as well as B.B.King, Eric Clapton and other musicians that will never get old.
