Let's imagine in the USA that a paramilitary group existed that decided they hated Canadians and attacked them. If the US government stood idly by do you think the Canadian govt would hold us accountable? You make the call.

No, because the Lebanese government cannot control what Hezbollah has been doing neither has Israel. All what is Israel is doing now is killing civilians to provoke an outcry against Hezbollah but this will not work and it’s going to bring the country to civil war. And for those of you saying that Israel is innocent, well if you live in Lebanon you can see how the Israeli planes use to violate the Lebanese air space every day before this war started. Israel is nothing without the United States and instead of fighting with Israel the real war of Arabs should be with the US the mother of all terror.

The Lebanese government is not in control of activities in Lebanon just yet. They are just being persuaded to start getting control of security and law and order. Hezbollah is actually more powerful than the Lebanese government right now.

Not only is Hezbollah allowed to organize, operate, and carry out cross border attacks on Israeli targets, missile as well as manned, but on top of it all they have two posts in the cabinet. You bet your bippy they are responsible. Imagine attacks were carried out on us via Mexico or Canada unchecked. I'm sorry we would not only fight back, but dismantle the countries political structure and have them start over. Look how far we went with Germany and Japan, all the way to the end. Half measures will not end the conflict.

At the same time the consequences are so grave on either side it takes an incredible amount of wisdom to decide how to go about it. I do not like the fact that Israel has not been very careful to avoid civilian causalities. I do not justify this but we leveled whole German cities to the ground in World War 2. War is messy messy business. I'd love to be a pacifist but in Israelis case it is comes down to their right to exist. Hezbollah and Hamas, have not only declared war and will not recognize the state of Israel, but ironically dedicates itself to Israel’s complete destruction, implicitly recognizing its existence.

This is so much more than about land, this is about religion. I'm sorry but as far as I can tell Hezbollah and Hamas have a completely dysfunctional view of religion. In the end it is the bigotry of the human heart that has caused this conflict. If we all just saw each other as human beings instead of from this nationality, group, or religion, then I do not think Hezbollah or Hamas would care that Israel would exist. They would co-exist with one another peacefully. At the root of peoples actions are their beliefs, change their minds, and the world changes with them.

Lebanon has given Hezbollah free rein in Siouthern Lebanon.
They are thus accomplices to anthing and everything Hezbollah and Syria do there. Accomplices are just as guilty of a crime as the principles.

The government is the head of the country and responsible for any actions within the country. The hezbollah has been their with their permissiom so I imagine they had to be authorized to exist there.

Suppose a religious cult established a compound in Arizona and started lobbing rockets over the border into Mexico, and sent raiding parties south to kidnap Mexican citizens and hold them for ransom. Should Mexico hold the US government responsible? Should the US government raid the compound and arrest the perps -- or should it look the other way and claim it can't stop what's goinng on?

Since the Hezbollah fired multiple rockets from Lebanon, you can kinda understand Israels position.
