Abortion is wrong. It's murder. I do however believe that there are exceptions like the mothers life being at risk by having a baby. Rape is a horrible thing. I think that if she can't bring herself to love the life she's carrying or doesn't want to give the child to someone that will love it that, she can make her own choice about it. But why punish an innocent child for something they didn't do.

Abortion is abortion. Either you agree with it or you don't. It's not logical to have provisions - except for 'term' limits. Why is a rape baby worth less as a life than an accident baby?
I really feel that abortion is an all or nothing thing - you can't ethically say that a rape baby isn't a life worth saving if you say that others are worth saving. If it's a religious issue, God wouldn't have allowed the victim to get pregnant and wouldn't have blessed her with a child.
And then the question becomes, who decides if it's rape?? The courts?? The baby could be full term by then and you can't terminate then. Would a woman simply have to go to the doctor and say that she'd been raped and the doctor can proceed? Would *s/he* then be obligated to report it, thus violating medical secrecy??
The rape provision is for people who haven't thought the issue out.

I don't support abortion, but this is a case where I think it could be acceptable. The woman may not be mentally or physically ready to give birth to and take care of a baby. It isn't even the woman's fault, because having sex wasn't up to her. In any other case though, where the woman IS responsible for her actions, abortion should not be allowed.

I don't know if you've ever had to deal with this yourself or with someone very close to you, but I have, so I know what I'm talking about.... The rape is not the unborn child's fault, the woman feels embarassed, yes, but she did nothing wrong...So basically, getting rid of a defensless unborn child is just so she doesn't have to be embarassed? That's a half-a** reason to me. Even if she cannot deal with keeping the child, there's always adoption. There is no "choice" to keep a LIFE or not. Having the abortion would also cause more emotional problems and more thoughts of suicide and guilt.

I agree with the fact that this wasn't the women's fault but I can't agree with the abortion. It isn't the baby's fault and it shouldn't be punished for the father's sin. I wouldn't condemn the women because I see where she's coming from but I still think it's murder. Besides that the risks for the women having an abortion are stupendous. you might damage your insides witch in turn will prevent them from carrying a child they did want to term. This comes from family experience. Along with it messes with you mentally and most people go into depression that can cause more harm to themselves. Again from experience.

In my opinion rape is a reason for abortion, but it should be within a reasonable amount of time. They have the morning after shot that they can give to stop any conception from happening. If a woman waits two months then says she was raped, that kind of sounds like someone changing their mind.

With a situation as difficult and complex as rape, I would think the woman should be allowed to make that decision for herself without feeling guilt from the outside. While I'm pro-choice but anti-abortion, there's no way I could say for sure one way or the other what I would do if placed in that situation myself.

I detest the idea of abortion but it also horrifies me that some people wouldn't accept even the "morning-after" pill for a girl who had been raped.
The platform of the Constitution Party states "We affirm the God-given legal personhood of all unborn human beings, without exception. As to matters of rape and incest, it is unconscionable to take the life of an innocent child for the crimes of his father."
No mention of the woman! Is she just a vessel for a gestating fetus, even if it's only a few cells? And they talk about women having no rights in Afghanistan!

yea, well in my opinion in no matter what case you get pregnant, you shouldnt get an abortion,no matter if its in rape, abortion is not a good thing, its not the babys fault this happened,i know people say its a fetus but its still a human being, there are so many people that want a baby but they cant have one, they should at least give the baby for adoption so that someone who really wants it can love and care for it.

I'm pro choice all the way, in fact I've marched in NARAL & Planned Parenthood marches. Adoption is a wonderful oppourtunity & choice for many pregnant women, but the sad truth is, there are hundreds of thousands of babies in foster care or in the adoption system already and waiting to be adopted. More unwanted children in the system is not a viable or logical answer to this discussion... There are not mountains of "Angelina Jolie's" waiting to adopt children, there's just too many unloved and unplanned children born today...
