There are several signals your body may give you that you are ovulating or about to ovulate. Many of them have to do with the consistency of your vaginal fluids. There is a plethera of info on the web. You can search for NFP or natural family planning on the web because these sites have a great wealth of information that will teach you the details and tricks for understanding YOUR ovulation whether you are using fertility drugs to do it or not. Good luck sweetie. :-)

Many women who have an irregular period aren't ovulating. There are a number of ways that you can determine if you are ovulating or not.

The first and easiest way is to get a blood test from your doctor.

You can also buy an at home ovulation predictor kit, although these aren't always 100% accurate.

You can also chart your body basal temperature. On the day of ovulation, and every day after that until the beginning of your next cycle, your temperature is one degree higher than normal. It is recommended that you take your temperature before you get out of bed in the morning, and at the same time as movement affects the reading.

You can also examine the position of your cervix. When you are ovulating, your cervix is low and soft like the inside of your cheek. At all other times, your cervix is high and hard like the tip of your nose.

When you are ovulating, you may feel slight twinges around your ovaries

When you are ovulating, you may notice a difference in your cervical mucus. It should be clear and sticky, and you may be able to spread as much as 5cm string between your thumb and your forefinger. Gross, I know! It needs to be sticky to draw the sperm.

Usually you will get what's called EWCM (egg-white cervical mucus) when you're ovulating and as you can tell from the name, it's discharge that looks like egg white. You can also start charting your basal body temp - get a basal body thermometer and take your temp before you even get out of bed every morning (preferably at the same time every morning and after 3 consecutive hours of sleep) and chart that on a graph (you can do it for free at www.fertilityfriend.com). You will typically get a low temp and then three temps about 0.5 degrees higher than the previous temp when you're ovulating. However, by the time you see the higher temps, you've already ovulated, so you need to have sex when you get the low temp. So, the only way to figure out when you're ovulating is to chart for several months and then compare the charts and if you see a low temp around the same time every month, that's when you need to have sex (it's a pain to wait when you want to get pg now, but it's a pretty sure way to determine when you are ovulating). You can also get ovulation test kits and they will tell you when you're ovulating (it's best to use second morning urine - the second time you use the bathroom).

I've heard that having sex every other day typically works (I've heard not to do it every day as sperm needs time to build back up) because you can get pregnant the day before, of, and after ovulation, so every other day should cover it! And if you can't/don't want to do it every other day throughout your cycle and you have a regular cycle and most likely ovulate on day 14, I would at least start at the 10th of the month and go to maybe the 18th? I've never heard exactly that recommended but it seems like it should cover it if you ovulate on the 14th.

Good luck!

Ovulation generally occurs 7-10 days after the 1st day of your last period. Cramping during ovulation is common. I myself often have lower abdominal pain when I'm ovulating. Your discharge also increases & becomes thicker - you'll notice the difference when wiping yourself after you go to the bathroom. The change in discharge is to help promote mobility for conception.

Besides, I understand how frustrating trying to get pregnant is, I went through it, but if you just try to relax, forget about the "baby making" for a while & just have sex to have fun & connect with your spouse, you'll increase your chances of conceiving. Alot of the time, just the stress of TRYING to get pregnant will actually prevent it from happening. Look at all of the women who were told they couldn't have kids or just gave up trying to & adopted. Often times, they became pregnant shortly after adopting - because the pressure was off!

Hope that I was helpful. Good luck!!!

I completely understand how you feel, it gets really frustrating and even when you have tried for a little bit, it feels like you have been trying forever. What I can tell you is that it might take you a while, if you just had surgery you have to let yourself heal and let yourbody do its own thing, let it start working back to normal again. I am sure that with the help of fertility meds you will be just fine, but remember it is always on God's hands.

When you first get up in the morning you can check yourself. Squat and use your finger just like you would a tampon and try to feel your cervix. If when you pull your finger out you have white creamy substance on it your are ovulating. Be careful not to be fooled though, because when you and your husband finish having sex the next morning that can also be mistaken for leftover semen. One is more sticky than the other though.

I also got frustrated when me and my husband were trying to conceive number two. It seemed like it was never going to happen. I charted, watched my periods, the length of time in between ovulation, and everything. When I went into to see my doctor he said to stop charting. It was hard to stop because I think I had gotten addicted but once I stopped we found out we were pregnant. Just relax and have fun!

If you have not tried charting and are having trouble you might try www.fertilityfriend.com
It is a great website for trying to conceive.

Good Luck!

I am really shocked that if you have done all that.....tubes, clomid etc. That the fertility specialist has not told you about Natural Family Planning that helps women detect when they are most fertile using cervical mucus and body temperature. You should definately look into it.
