Well, I've heard that the Jackson 5 came from Gary which is/was great before MJ turned into a circus freak pedophile. But;
:
I smile every time I see 76 Trombones, its a great musical and I loved it. Do they play the song, Gary Indiana there in you town? It was delightful!

Widely misunderstood by those who don't live or visit there. I lived in Gary for 2 years, in Glen Park near Merrillville. It was the quietest home I ever had. NO lie. With the exception of the Fire Engines leaving the station off of 45th Street and 3 neighbors, 2 with barking dogs, 1 with crying dogs... it was great. Growing up my Dad took us to Gleason Park to ride the golf carts and play golf and we went to Marquette Park Beach and Lake Street Beach at least once a week. I love Gary. The first thing I think is LOVE and FAMILY... I have my Dad there, 4 aunts, 2 uncles and lots of other family and loads of friends. I only witnessed personally one violent crime at a nightclub/poetry bar back in 1998, but did loose quite a few friends to violence. My philosophy about Gary or just about anywhere on earth is "Stay out of trouble and you will stay out of trouble." Very rarely if EVER have I heard of a random crime there.
I LOVE GARY!! Peace.

I think of the song from the movie "Music Man". We, as a country, know very little about Gary, Indiana - and 99.9% of us are happy about that. Podunk town in a Podunk state - it's only important to those who live there.

I think of this old guy with gray pants and a place where there is just dusty roads and dried plants and trees. Silence and no one is there.
