there is a buttone labled 'H' on the multimeter mastech ms8200d when pressed letter H is displayed on the lcd display what does it mean.

I believe it means HOLD. When you are using any other function on the multimeter and want to hold a number from changing. This can be helpful when trying to take some reads.

It means hold the reading in memory.

At a guess, H is "Henrys", a measure of inductance (for coils and chokes).
