Our 18'x48" above ground pool recently turned a greenish yellowish color. I bought a shock treatment and put that in today. But there is also stuff at the bottom i need to vacuum but im not sure where to connect the hose on the pump. I was also wondering how i clean out the pump, or do i need to even do that? Im fairly new to all this so i need a lot of help with the maintenance part. Thanks

Go to your local pool supply store for advice. They can show you the pieces you need and how to connect them to the filter better than a description here. As to the filter you need to find out what type of agent is used (cartridge, sand or D.E) It is rare that you would need to clean the pump but there is a filter basket which can catch large debris (leaves, small sticks etc) and should be emptied (should be a clear window to determine if this is necessary)

there shoudl be a small hole with a valve on the bottom of the thingy that sucks the water IN to the pump.. in the pool.. under the water.. usually you have to open the valve and block the filter with the lid. and hook the end of the hose into the hole that was covered by the valve.. that is how mine works.. I know I know.. my description sux.. but if it like mine it will make sense when you look at it. make sure you get the air out of the vacuum hose.. you dont want to get air in your pump..hope I was somewhat helpful.. if no.. call a pool center.. they should be able to send someone out ot help you .,. for a fee of course

you should have a hook-up that fits in scimmer box-be sure to remove all air from the hose before you connect it-oh yeah, the filter pump must be running-after the pool is clean, you will have to BACK-FLUSH the filter- there should be a clearly mark selection on the main pump vavle--just a few minutes will be long enough, you dont want to lose too much water--good luck
