Is there anyway to clean copper using household items?

Vinegar and salt. If you need to rub hard, use soda in between. Do it in a sink. Any liquid coming off polished copper no matter what method you use, should be treated as poison and rinsed away and not added to your dish water.

Shake on the salt first, then pour about a teaspoon of vinegar. Rub lightly with your sponge. It works in seconds. :)

First of all CLR is calcium, lime, rust.
This sounds stupid..but you can use catsup. JUst put it on..leave overnight..and wipe off in morning. ( try it on a dull penny if you dont believe) Catsup has vinegar in it which is an acid and that will take care of it. PLUS its non-toxic. Vinegar works too, but doesnt stay on as nice...and smells. LET the catsup do the work.

You can use toothpaste (not the gel) and a soft bristle toothbrush. Rubbing in circular motion, you can also add
a small amount of water. I put water on brush before starting
and shake off excess. I use this on my copper kettles.
