ALWAYs, ALWAYs, ALWAYs, ALWAYs carry a notebook around. A good solution is to go see a movie. I always take ideas from the movie (I don't know why).

I can watch the most boring movie and still get an idea from it.

Try this - grab the newspaper and pick a story - any story and copy it - but change the names in the story to your characters names and the locations to the locations in your story. As you go you will start to change more and more of the article into your own story. You might end up with nonsense but it is a good exercise to get the ink flowing. (I am suggesting this as a writing exercise - I am not suggesting that you plagiarize the story or authors writing!!!) The most important thing is to write. Write anything. Write a nonsense, completely embellished grocery list if you have to. Good Luck.

oh and P.S. get off yahoo answers. You won't get anything done while you are here lol ; )

Try to break the block by doing a little "brainflush"--just start writing anything without editing, as fast as you can. It can be nonsense, just write. Don't correct, don't go back and fix anything. Just spew whatever comes out.

It helps to clean out the pipes.

Leave your desk and go for a walk or run...your mind will carry on the story without pressure and you'll be ready to write when you return.
