"Something" drew me to the shelter that day... never been there before...I found her there, a tiny 5 week old white puppy in a cat cage. It seemed like kismet, because she has been so important to me for nine years now. So...can a human and an animal be "soul mates?"

OMG. My dog and I are totally cosmically connected. I know some how or another he and I were brothers in another life. I believe we were huskies in the same litter in some former life. I became a person in my next life and he stayed a dog. I love him with all my heart. Since we were in the same litter, I like to think of us as "womb mates".
i'm being totally serious.

Certainly...I think so anyway, everytime I have thought of getting another pet within weeks something happens and an animal in need "comes" to me or seeks me out. Every time I would have missed them if not for a seemingly insignificant decision at the time, like when I found my cat Pearl...my friend asked me to go to her sisters with her and I usually dont because her sisters children are annoying but I said yes for some reason and on the way we found 3 abandoned kittens...the first one that I caught was the one that (once I brought all of them home) became the most loving and affectionate towards me while the other 2 were scared of me...I cant describe it in any other way except it was meant to be. Also I was going to get a dog from a ltter my friends dog had and I had my eye on one but before I went back someone had taken it and the one that was left which I took was truly meant to be and I cant imagine my life without him he turned out to be everything I could ever want in a best friend if not for the other person I would have made the wrong choice I just know it. I know for a fact that fate or whatever had a hand in all of the pets I have aquired and I can only surmise it is because it was meant to be and that we are kindred spirits...especially because of the way thier names just came to me instantly....and fit so well.

Anything's possible. I think we may have connections & are drawn to and repelled from things and people based on energy... It is very possible that something "drew" you to yoru puppy.
On the other hand, it is also very possible that your trip to the shelter was a fluke & finding your puppy was mere coincidence... but I like the idea of "fate", "Kismet" - or whatever else you want to call it - better.

I can`t say I believe in the whole "soul mate " idea, but I believe it was fate that brought you together. And there`s a reason they are called man`s best friend !
