In a service industry, there may not be 10 smart question, these are some of the question my organisation always asked to the customer:
1. What is your budget?
2. What is your schedule or timeframe for the project to be completed?
3. Do you have any design in your mind?
4. What type of material are you looking at?
5. How do come to know about our services?

Umm, before we discuss price, are you a cop?

Seriously.

I'll give you a few that apply in almost every industry.

1. What type of application (usage) are you looking at?
2. Is this for you or somebody else?
3. How did you come to your conclusion if it's somebody else?
4. What's your price range?
5. Have you been anywhere else?
6. What's your timeframe?
7. How do you intend to pay for it?

And there are more but I have to go out and get some beers; I just remembered I have tomorrow off.

3. What are your needs here
4. How quickly do you need your merchandise
5. What can I do to keep your business
