both. without intelligence you can´t have wisdom.

Both are important aspects to being a well rounded, tolerant person.

However, I would argue that intelligence is something you can gain at your whim; reading a book, researching something on the Internet, watching the discovery channel. The more you educate yourself, the more you increase your intelligence.

Conversely, Wisdom is something that comes from real experience and time. You can't look it up on the Internet, or read it somewhere. Wisdom accumulates as you grow and progress in your life, as you change and learn about the world.

One is not better than the other, as superiority is highly subjective- they work hand in hand. Each encourages the other.

I prefer wisdom over intelligence.
One difference that I can think of: Intelligence, at least raw, is born. Wisdom is developed thru life's experience.
Depending on the situation or problem one needs to handle, one may be 'superior' to the other. For example, one needs to be intelligent to solve a math problem whereas wisdom has nothing to do with a math problem. Whereas, most human problems are better handled with wisdom.

wisdom is intelligence in application or use.

intelligence is an ability

wisdom is the use of that ability -- HOW to use that intelligence, WHAT to DO in a certain situation.

therefore, wisdom is the senior ability, but it depends upon intelligence.

Like physics depends on mathmatics, or a better example:

Like engineering depends upon science -- engineering is the higher skill level but couldn't exist without science; science is the knowledge, but engineering is the USE of the knowledge in specific application.

Intelligence can be brought about by education or excellent counseling. It requires only enough judgement in proportion to what is being learned. Many times it can seem inherent in an individual, a "born-with-it" quality.

Wisdom comes about from lots of life experience, motion, application, successes and failures -- you find out how you applied your intelligence rightly or wrongly. It requires MUCH MUCH more judgement than intelligence. No one is inherently wise.

OK -- pay me!

The answer depends on how you define the two terms. If wisdom means "the ability to use what you know and understand in practical ways" and knowledge means "to be aware of certain facts" the choice is clear. Wisdom is the better of the two. People sometimes are "book smart and street stupid." They may "know" about things, but not how to use them (wisdom).

there are many forms of intelligence but wisdom not only comes from experience but what one learns from experience due to having an open, questioning and critical thinking mind, wisdom is probably the better of the two to have however one can find a way to exploit either one of these traits to his or her advantage

I'm intelligent, but not very wise. I wish it were the other way around if I could only have one. A wise person sees the universe the way it is and has compassion, love, and understanding. An intelligent person is just able to solve problems easily, but isn't necessarily happy with himself/herself.

Wisdom comes from experience, intelligence is innate (to some degree), I would rather have wisdom, as that would serve me better in life.

Wisdom without understanding is like receiving a precious gift but not being able to enjoy it. The two are inseperably linked.
