Personally I love soccer. Since America is full of other sports and many other things to do unlike most other countries soccer isn't as popular. Still soccer is fairly popular although not as popular because of all the other things the people have more choices in things to do and they just like some things better.

For one, Americans love teams who score high. in soccer, even a championship game, there would be a lot of times where the score is 1-0 or even 0-0 and go to sudden death or whatever they do there. The other is that the game could go for a long time without a timeout for a commercial break (the companies want to make money too by making commercials so they would not be happy about little to no commercial breaks) Pretty much the only time they would put it on commercial is if they get an injury or something like that.

Every kid in the USA grows up playing soccer. Many of them enjoy it. However, most all of these kids, generally boys, will experience American Football one day and a lot don't turn back. You can blame it on the culture, you can blame it on the media, you can blame it on peer pressure, but until some one finds a way to make these kids hold on for there love for soccer, the American people will not have a love for it either.

Some of us actually love soccer. The problem is A.) most Americans exposure to soccer is from MLS (we dont get alot of Euro games on tv here)whose teams proably could not beat an under 18 development team, so what they see of it is crap and they think all other soccer must be equally crap. B.) Since the best soccer is played in Europe its tough to decide who to root for since we have no home town team to cheer on, and since there are few Americans playing they are not familiar with all the international players. C.) All of our sports are in nice easy packages where all teams fall under the same league. So figuring out the differences between Premier League, Serie A, Primera Liga, Bundesliga, Euro Cup and Champions league and what the hell relagation is takes awhile Once I began watching it took awhile to figure all of this out so I know it can confuse others. But it is sure worth the effort.

I do not know for sure. But I think it is because it is fairly new here. Up until a couple of years ago you couldn't even find a soccer game on the television. I am American and I watch it but when I go to talk about the world cup to someone they don't know what I am talking about. I think it will eventually catch on, maybe in the next 10-20 years.

I don't think that's true at all! I'm American and I loooove football. Also, why would the stereotype be a "soccer-mom" if Americans didn't like football?
As a little side note, I read somewhere that David Beckham might be joining the MLS, so if Americans don't like football right now, they'll start pretty soon!

People in the Us are really ignorant, that's why they don't like soccer.
They prefer that american horrendous, fake football or basketball and baseball.
So even if they don't love soccer, soccer will always be the most popular and followed sport in the world.
SOCCER IS THE BEST; IT'S THE REAL FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some do. In particular Central and Southern American residents.
If you are referring to US citizens, many do, especially a lot of soccer Moms.
Generally, the TV determines the popularity of a sport, as well, in the U.S., so there may be some issue there.

Why would we? Soccer sucks. We have football, the real kind. WE Americans are partial to our own ****, which is why we don't like people walking around wearing shirts that say "Hecho en Mexico." Why don't you try wearing shirts that say Estados Udidos? Or better yet, forget your lousy Mexican heritage altogether? What's is worth anyway? Good bean salad?
