My favorite philoshopher is Schopenhauer. His commentaries on society and the individual still hold true today. He has given me great insight into myself and the actions of others. Also, he is the first western philospher to incorporate eastern thought patterns into his work. Alot people say he was very pesimistic, I do not fill that way, in fact, for me, he was liberating. My main philosophical staple is existentialism. After reading Schopenhauer and Nietzsche as well as my own personal experiences I attained an existential outlook on life, though it wasn't until I became famaliar with existential philosphy that I realized there was a term for it. I love the prospect of being alone in a godless universe. The angst was not there for me, only relief.

I agree with you on Sartre but I also was a big fan of Kafka and Herman Hess. I only know that "death is the only event that will prove I'm right." How existential is that?
