Vitamin D promotes absorption of calcium into the bones. Calcium builds up the strength of our bones and without vitamin D, calcium will stay in our blood and our bones will rot but these only occurs of course secondary to bone diseases. Calcium primarily makes the bones stronger for bending, for protection, etc. About the making-you-grow-taller effect? YES it can also be attributed to having strong bones PLUS a healthy pituitary gland and lots of exercise and other vitamins. ^_^

No it does not help in growing taller but it is essential for bone composition.

Hmmm... I thought that was the calcium that did those two. Vitamin D does keep you from getting depressed - if you don't get enough you can get SADD, that winter-depression disease.e
